HENRY MANDELL
Mixed Media
Henry Mandell’s paintings and drawings focus on the exploration of experimental artistic practices, observations of the natural world, scientific principles and their merging effect on our lives, pioneering unique approaches to creating abstract artworks.
Using digital tools, Mandell creates visually compelling, detailed art works often transforming line by line, letter by letter, the characters
of selected source text into abstract imagery. Transforming what is known into the unknown. Mandell’s wide visual vocabulary with digital painting results from experimenting without the use of iterative code as creative decisions remain with the artist’s hand mediated by the use of technology as a visual tool.
Henry Mandell was born in New York City and received a BFA in
Fine Art from Ithaca College. He then studied at The School of Visual Arts and Parsons School of Design in New York City. Mandell’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States, including Anita Rogers Gallery in Tribeca New York City, Lanoue Gallery in SOWA Boston, Brintz Gallery in Palm Beach Florida, The Museum Of Fine Arts Boston and University of Michigan Museum of Art, The Rhode Island School of Design Museum. His work is held by museum, corporate and private collections. His studio is currently located in the Pacific Northwest.
